  • The Parish Stewartship Guide

The continued enjoyment of our parish facilities is contingent on meeting our financial needs in the face of today's market - a reality of life! To assist in meeting that reality, the use such a table to help decide on one's weekly / monthly contributions may help, remembering that Prayerful Consideration is key!

Click here for the Monthly Donation table.

In combination with prayerful consideration, the following method may help you in determining the level of your support of your parish's work & ministry:

      1) Locate your annual household income on the left; move across to locate your current weekly/ monthly gift; move up that column to find the percentage of income you are now giving.

      2) Consider moving to the next % level: For Example , if you give 2%, try to move to 3%, or if 6% try to move to 7%. (Remember, last years deficit would be remedied if every family gave but $1 more each Sunday).

      3) Strive to eventually reach the goal of providing 5% - 10% of your income in support of your parish. (Think of the programming & ministry we can accomplish with sufficient funding gifted to the Lord's works!)

      4) The Steward's Prayer: "Lord, you call us to be stewards of your blessings in our lives, using them to help build your Body in the world today. In thanks-giving, and support of my parish and its ministries, in the coming year I pledge to take a step in faith. I intend to contribute ___ % of the fruits of my labour."

    - May the Lord bless you in your generosity. Thank you! - Fr B.

Supporting the Church: The Fifth Precept of the Church

The fifth precept of the Church is "You shall help to provide for the needs of the Church." The Catechism notes that this "means that the faithful are obliged to assist with the material needs of the Church, each according to his own ability." In other words, we don't necessarily have to tithe (give ten percent of our income), if we can't afford it; but we should also be willing to give more if we can. Our support of the Church can also be through donations of our time, and the point of both is not simply to maintain the Church but to spread the Gospel and bring others into the Church, the Body of Christ.
