This fall, the parishioners of Our Lady of the Visitation Church will start one of the largest building projects since the construction of the church itself circa 1850. This includes two separate buildings -- the Family Centre/Parish Hall and a new Rectory for our Parish Priest on our parish property.

The total construction project costs are estimated at $1.3 million; this will include construction of the New Parish Rectory, Family Centre/Parish Hall and all necessary furnishings to make the hall a tastefully decorated state-of-the art venue. The financial forecast within the business plan takes into account an estimated $40,000 to $75,000 for the replacement of the church's roof.

    Rectory

As part of the Family Centre/Parish Hall Project Phase 1, a new on-site, efficiency bungalow will also be erected. The new Rectory will be prefabricated by Guildcrest Homes (www.guildcrest.com) in their factory located in Morewood, ON.

At approx. 1,400 square feet it is a downsized version of their "Dundas" model, which was chosen by the Construction Committee for its efficient design and economical layout. Several home designs were considered from 3 builders, prior to a decision being made on this specific design.

Production time is 10 weeks, with construction time being 6 weeks from start date. The parish rectory should be completed by October, 2007
