  • Welcome to OLVIS Music Ministries

    "He who sings, prays twice."

Our music ministry at Our Lady of Visitation Parish comprises members of all ages offering different styles of music, from solo to choral and contemporary or folk to more traditional. Their gift of song brightens our Eucharistic celebrations. New members and new musicians are always most welcome!

    Children/Youth Choir

The Children/Youth Choir provides music at the 9 am Mass on Sunday and practices on Thursdays from 7 - 8 pm (Sept - May) which is followed by snack time (everyone's favorite part!). Children of all ages are welcome to join this choir, with an emphasis on learning and sharing God's Word through song. The choir, accompanied by a teen band, also performs in local concerts and at a local senior's residence. Highlights include participating in the Children's Christmas Pageant and the Three Choir Concert. New members -singers and musicians - are always welcome throughout the year.

    Adult Choirs

There are 3 adult choirs at OLVIS. Spirit Highway, a folk choir comprising 3 voices with guitar accompaniment, sings at the 5 pm Mass on Saturday. The more traditional Adult Choir with keyboard accompaniment sings at the 11 am Mass on Sunday with practices held on Wed evenings at 7:00 pm. The Christmas/Easter Season Choir, comprises members from both the Saturday evening and Sunday morning choirs including other members who do not sing at the regular weekly masses. This choir practices on Wednesday evenings from mid Oct. to Dec. to prepare for and perform at the Christmas Vigil and morning Masses and from Feb. to April for the Easter Triduum services including the Easter Vigil and morning Masses.

We have fun as we work on learning new music and parts. If you have the gift of song or play a musical instrument, and feel you are being prompted, we would like you to consider joining us. Please contact the main office at 822-2197 for more information.
