  • Heart and Stone - Making History at OLV

Historically significant and culturally dynamic, Our Lady of the Visitation Parish continues to be a prominent center of spirituality in the booming expansion of Ottawa South. Today OLV faces the multifaceted challenge of conserving the best, while building to meet the needs of today.

To meet these needs OLV has assembled a dynamic Parish Pastoral Council, an impressive and competent Finance Council, and a Construction Committee constituted by talented experts - all engaged inputting discernment into action. Thousands of man-hours have been invested behind-the-scenes working to secure the future of our parish and the heritage of our children.

With a phased approach to its construction and financing, OLV has developed a cohesive and comprehensive business plan to achieve our much needed building expansion of a new family centre hall and ‘efficiency' bungalow rectory.

Indeed, with fiscal responsibility and an eye for the bottom line, the parish has achieved an astounding refurbishment of our church interior. Our Project Management team working with the Renovations & Maintenance Committees (all parishioner volunteers) have accomplished the restoration of warmth and charm to our historic church, which sparkles anew once again.

With 10,000 new homes scheduled for construction in our parish over the next few years the vibrancy of Visitation is itself under renewal. The needs of the future have arrived today. Today we welcome new parishioners as they arrive in the community to make their mark and to build a legacy for their children. Together we will accomplish our goals. Now is the critical time for each member family to prayerfully review their role in continuing to build the legacy of our Parish.

Let our generosity and faith be one before the Lord, for He is never out-done in generosity. May God grant us a sensitivity to know his will, the assuring peace of his presence, and the faith to embrace both.

The key in all this continues to be:
    - Let us seek the Lord as we take it to Prayer! "
    God's Peace – Fr Brian.
