Family Centre/Parish Hall - Services The main objective of the Hall is to assist parishioners and others in the quest to live fuller Christian lives. With the ever expanding population in the south end of Ottawa as noted in the Archdiocese East End Study, and given that the church's seating capacity is fixed, the Hall becomes an extension of the Church where parishioners can go to worship. Under Vatican II, the Hall will serve as a gathering place for our parish community. As our parish grows, so will the need and use of a facility that can offer the services required for a growing community and parish with a focus on family. The Hall will further facilitate the spiritual growth, education and work of the parish. In doing this, the Hall will offer mass during peak periods when the church is full, Lent, Easter and Christmas. It will also provide space for Children's liturgy, "50 plus" group gatherings, meditation, Mothers' Groups, Parish & Community Life Committee, Pastoral Care Team, Pro-life Committee, St. Vincent de Paul, Welcome Ministry, Knights of Columbus, parish meetings, suppers and receptions encouraging more parishioner involvement in church activities. While parishioners financially support the parish, it is not enough to cover the cost of construction of the Hall. As a result the uses for the Hall must go beyond cultivating the spirituality of parish. The Hall will be rented to community groups and individuals holding events such as baptismal and wedding receptions, funerals, business and government department/agency meetings, a meeting place for youth groups, Cubs, Scouts, Brownies, Guides, Knights of Columbus, Squire's Circle and other groups that require the use of a hall for hosting their event. Additionally, Parish fundraising will continue at an aggressive pace to help defray the cost of construction and maintenance. |
