  • 10th Annual Charity Auction General

Our Lady of the Visitation is gearing up for the 2011 10th Annual Charity Auction on Saturday, May 7th and we can't do it without your help.

We now have the OLV Family Centre Parish Hall and hundreds of parishioners have utilized its resources for prayer groups, coffee Sundays, our suppers, meetings, and many, many other activities. As well it is rented out to parishioners and the community.

Last year, the auction netted over $6,000. This year we need to build on those past successes and we need your assistance to gather up the much needed 200 items for both the Live Auction and Silent Auction.

The Auction is Saturday, May 7th. Sounds like a lot of time until then, but with so much work to be done before launch date - here is what you can do to make this event the most successful one yet.

First, spread the news that the auction is taking place on Saturday, May 7th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Family Centre Parish Hall. Then, donate one item for the auction, new or nearly new, and collect one or two items from one of the businesses you frequent. Remember we need at least 200 items for a successful day.

Be creative! Everyone would like to bid on things like movie tickets, baking, gift baskets, restaurant cards, oil changes, groceries, car washes - the list is endless.

Don't do it alone. Grab one of your friends and do the auction business together. You'll be surprised how each of you can encourage one another.

Please have all the donations at the Church by Sunday, May 1st. This will allow time for the cataloguing and promotion. And don't forget to come out and support this important event. An introduction letter to hand to prospective donors is available in a PDF format.
