Archbishop Prendergast requests Special Collection for Haiti: To assist the victims of Haiti, the Archbishop has requested that all parishes in the Archdiocese take up a special collection on Sunday, Jan 24th. The proceeds will be sent to Haiti Caritas through the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development & Peace.

2010 Car Raffle: Fundraising is holding OLV’s first-ever car raffle with a 2010 Ford Focus valued at $21,500 as the first prize along with a $200 and a $100 Gas Card prizes PLUS a $50 cash prize. The draw will take place on Mother’s Day 2010. Tickets are $20 each or 3 for $50 (only 3000 printed) and can be purchased by cash, MasterCard or VISA. H1N1 FLU: With the onset of the flu season now approaching and given the severity of the H1N1 virus, Fr. Brian is suggesting that we use alternate forms of giving a sign of Peace. Please do not be offended if the person you are offering your hand to, returns it with a wink or a nod!

Ottawa.ca/Tree: Did you know if you have previously received a tree through the TREE program you are now eligible to receive a second tree in 2010. You could then donate that tree to the Parish to help beautify the grounds. We'll pick it up! Register now at Ottawa.ca/TREE orcall 3-1-1.
PARISH SERVICES:
First Communion Preparation: The Website will be updated with important details regarding preparations.
GROUPS/COUNCILS:
Altar Servers: A special altar server training session with Deacon Pat McNulty will be held on Sun. Feb. 28 at 2pm, at Our Lady of the Visitation Church. Children in grade three or above, who have already received their first communion are invited to attend. This will be a learning opportunity for new children interested in becoming servers as well as a review session for all experienced Altar Servers. Refreshments will be served!
Food Cupboard: We are in very short supply of Kraft Dinner or other brands of macaroni & cheese; packages of bulk spaghetti; macaroni; etc.
Knights of Columbus: Are looking for a couple of Chest of Drawers for a family with 5 young girls. Please contact: Bill Hameluck - 822-2197.
Envelopes: Offering envelopes for 2010 are available in the foyer of the church. If you are new here or did not have an envelope in 2009 and would like a set for 2010, please take a box with no name and write your name and address on the sign-up sheet provided. At the end of each year, an income tax receipt will be issued for your donations. Receipts for 2009 will be issued in February.
FUNDRAISING:
Bingo: OLV Rideau Carleton Bingo starts Wednesday, February 17th from 6 pm to 9 pm. This is an opportunity to generate meaningful revenue for your building fund! For example, from 2004 to 2008 bingo revenue generated over $30,000 per year. We need 4 bingo volunteer workers each week. No running is involved. Instead we will sell cards at the counter and the majority of calculations will be automated compared to the manual forms now filled.
Please consider donating 1 night a week once a month (Wednesdays from 6 pm to 9 pm) to your parish fundraising team. Training sessions will be held from Feb 1 to 12 at Rideau Carleton.

Canadian Tire Money: Fundraising is collecting Canadian Tire money in a jar at the church doors for upcoming projects. Thank you for your support.
Rosaries: For a first communion gift or for yourself, Fundraising now has rosary beads and a rosary ring. There are three types of rosaries available for a donation of $10.00 each and the rosary ring is $5.00. Info available soon on this Website or contact marie.trojan@sympatico.ca.
United Way Campaign 2009: If your employer offers payroll deductions, you can designate your United Way donations to Our Lady of the Visitation and they will go to the Building Fund. Simply complete your donation card and include OLV’s CCRA tax number 128967353RR0116. Please advise the Parish office of your donation.
