Welcome to Our Lady of the Visitation

Our Lady of the Visitation Parish is a welcoming community of people of faith and of worship - men and women, young and old, laity, religious, and clergy - called by God to share the mission of Jesus Christ.

CARITAS HAITI: To date, the Archdiocese of Ottawa has forwarded to Caritas Haiti via Development & Peace more than $500,000. This is an exceptionally generous response from our people with wonderful cooperation from our pastors. Archbishop Prendergast expresses his sincere thank you to all who contributed so generously to this appeal.
Lenten Mission: Fr. Brian wishes to thank all the Parishioners who participated in the Mission for their support and also for those who were unable to attend. This will be a great blessing not only for the individuals but also for the Parish. We will continue our prayers to the Divine Mercy in support of the Year for Priests.
THE LENTEN SEASON began with Ash Wednesday on Feb. 17. It is a penitential time of forty days and the Church's annual retreat in order to celebrate more fully the Paschal Mystery of Christ's Dying and Rising. Catholics are asked to fast and to abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday and are encouraged to continue the practice on the Fridays of Lent. A further practice would be to prayerfully reflect on the Sunday Scriptures as a Family before the weekend Liturgy, as a means of listening to the Word of God and responding to it in faith and discipleship. LENTEN SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION:

  • GLOUCESTER - Our Lady of the Visitation, 5338 Bank Street, Wed., Mar. 3, 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Saturdays, 4:00 – 4:50 p.m.
  • MANOTICK - St. Leonard, 5332 Long Island Rd. Tues., March 23, 7:00 pm
  • METCALFE - St. Catherine of Siena Tues., Mar. 23, 7:00 pm

FAST AND ABSTINENCE IN CANADA: The Church prescribes fasting (only one full meal and two smaller meals which together are not greater than a full meal) and abstinence from meat on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Catholics aged 18-59 are bound to fast; those 14-59 to abstinence. Those who are ill are freed from these obligations; all, even above the age of 59 may continue to fast and abstain. Parents and educators are reminded of their duty to introduce children gradually to the understanding and practice of penance. Adult example will be the greatest influence in this matter.
